Tottenham want to sign Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on loan for the rest of the season
On Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of defender Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens with an obligation to buy in the summer.
Spurs have been in the market for defensive reinforcements since the start of the January transfer window but accelerated their pursuit of Danso amid suspicions of a serious injury to Radu Dragusin, who hurt his knee against IF Elfsborg in the Europa League last week. The Romanian looks likely for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
After Danso’s acquisition, the Lilywhites are looking to add another centre-half due to the fitness concerns of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. Van de Ven, who only returned from injury last week, missed the game at Brentford on Sunday, while Romero continues to be out with a quad problem.

According to transfer news king Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have agreed a loan deal with Chelsea to sign Axel Disasi for the remainder of the season. There is no buy option for the defender to join the North London club in the summer, whilst there is a loan fee included for his signature.
However, Axel Disasi is not set to accept Spurs’ loan proposal, as he has already agreed terms with Aston Villa. Chelsea have no interest in negotiating with Aston Villa as they are competing with Unai Emery’s side for a spot in the Champions League, Fabrizio Romano added on his official X account.
Ange Postecoglou has endured a defensive crisis this season, with key defenders missing significant periods of action. The Greek-Australian tactician has been forced to utilise Archie Gray across the backline as a makeshift defender, while Djed Spence has deputised in central defence at times.

He will be relieved to find some defensive cover in the form of Danso, although the Spurs tactician clearly wants more before the transfer deadline day. Axel Disasi has emerged as an option on the North Londoners’ radar as they look to tempt him on a temporary spell following his lack of game time under Enzo Maresca at Chelsea this season.

The France international has not been Maresca’s first-choice centre-back, and after the Blues decided to recall Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace last month, Disasi has slipped further down the pecking order. Thus, he wants to leave Stamford Bridge and has agreed terms with Villa. However, Chelsea are unwilling to negotiate terms with Villa, and Disasi’s reluctance to move to Spurs has complicated the matters.
