Ange Postecoglou has been looking to bring in fresh faces in their forward line in the ongoing winter transfer window; however, none of the transfer targets have materialised into a move, and now the Lilywhites are still on the lookout for reinforcements in the forward line that bring in flair and dynamism to the roster at N17, and apparently the North Londoners have identified Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey as a probable option before today’s January window deadline, per Fabrizio Romano via. The former Bayer Leverkusen winger is a suitable option given how he will be demoted down the pecking order following the arrivals of Marcus Rashford and Donyell Malen at Villa Park this window. And at Hotspur Way, he could be handed a lot of opportunities given the struggles that the North Londoners have been having in the forward line, forcing the Australian head coach to deploy teenager Mikey Moore.
Opportunities at N17 & M16 for Bailey
The North Londoners were missing out on the likes of Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, and Timo Werner in their weekend trip to Brentford, showing their dire need for a new forward.
However, that being said, the Lilywhites aren’t alone in his pursuit, with fellow Premier League rivals Manchester United also looking to acquire his signature. For the Reds from Manchester, the Jamaican international would compete with the likes of Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho in their more attacking wing-back role under Ruben Amorim.
It is to be seen where this goes, but the fact that there are barely hours for either club to push for a possible transfer shows how Levy will now have to work against time if he were to pull off a signing like Bailey.
