Tottenham Hotspur Transfers 2024/25

Ange Postecoglou makes admission about new Tottenham signing Kevin Danso

Deadline day is in full swing and the winter transfer window is only a few hours, leaving Tottenham Hotspur with enough time to get deals over the line.

Spurs are closing in on the signing of Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel on loan, after it had initially appeared that his pursuit was dead in the water. However, the 19-year-old has had a U-turn and Tel is now set to join Ange Postecoglou’s forces at White Hart Lane for the remainder of the campaign. It is expected that a deal will be completed in time before the window slams shut.

Over the weekend, the North Londoners confirmed their second signing of the winter window by bringing in Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens with an obligation to buy in the summer. The 26-year-old was attracted to join the “amazing project” at Tottenham after hearing of their interest and has expressed his desire to win trophies at White Hart Lane.

Ange Postecoglou will certainly be delighted with the club’s chiefs for bringing in a quality defender who can make an impact straightaway amid their defensive crisis. Kevin Danso is an experienced defender, having made over 200 club appearances thus far. The Australian also had a loan spell with Southampton back in the 2019/20 campaign, where he only mustered six Premier League appearances.

At Spurs, the centre-half will aim to take his career to the next level as well as prove himself in the Premier League. Given his quality and experience, Tottenham hijacked Wolves’ move for Danso at the 11th hour on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou certainly feels Danso is a quality signing for the club and will be a great fit in his system. The Greek-Australian tactician said via The Sun journalist Tom Barclay on X:

“Brilliant [to get him]. I think Kevin will be a great fit for us. We’re a little bit short at the back, have been for a while and he’s just really experienced, a good one-on-one defender.”

“I’ve said before that getting new players in gives us energy and will give the group energy. I’m looking forward to him being part of the group.”

Jamie O'Hara called for an immediate sack of the Australian manager following the North Londoners' defeat against Leicester.

Danso’s addition is a welcome one for Spurs, who have been hit badly with injuries especially at the back this season. Cristian Romero is yet to return from injury while Micky van de Ven has been eased into the action after recently coming back from two months on the sidelines. To make matters worse, Radu Dragusin suffered a knee injury against IF Elfsborg in the Europa League last week and is reportedly set for a lengthy period on the sidelines.
