Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou just cannot catch a break from injury problems.
According to a report from The Athletic, Radu Dragusin will undergo surgery on an ACL injury suffered to his right knee. He will miss the rest of the season and is expected to be out for at least six months, although some ACL injuries can keep players out of action for up to a year.
The Romanian international suffered the injury during Tottenham’s 3-0 win over IF Elfsborg in the Europa League last week, 20 minutes after coming on the pitch. Radu Dragusin has made 28 appearances for Spurs in all competitions since joining from Genoa in January 2024, although his season has now been cut short. Due to an unprecedented injury situation, the 23-year-old started 21 of the club’s past 23 games across all competitions.
The hulky centre-back joins Wilson Odobert, Destiny Udogie, Guglielmo Vicario, Timo Werner, James Maddison, Cristian Romero, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke on the sidelines, while Ben Davies and Micky van de Ven have recently returned from their respective injury issues.
Spurs’ centre-backs have been very unfortunate with injuries this season. Romero is yet to see action despite returning to team training last month whilst Van de Ven was rested against Brentford on Sunday due to a quick turnaround. Injuries to Van de Ven and Romero forced Postecoglou to use teenage midfield talent Archie Gray in central defence.
Dragusin’s recent setback means the number of absentees continues to grow for the Tottenham coach. Spurs have suffered 27 separate injuries since the start of the 2024-25 campaign, which is a lot and has undoubtedly affected the team’s performance levels and results.

In an attempt to solve their woes at the back, the club signed Austria defender Kevin Danso on loan for the rest of the season from French side RC Lens, with a purchase option worth £21m. For a Spurs side that has leaked goals at an alarming rate, Big Ange would hope Danso makes an immediate impact and helps restore stability in defence.
