Ange Postecoglou had been vying for a new forward at White Hart Lane for the whole winter transfer window, and Daniel Levy delivered on the deadline day with the Lilywhites making a highlight transfer in signing Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.
While the Frenchman initially arrives in North London on a loan transfer, the North Londoners hold an option to make it permanent in the upcoming summer transfer window. Given that W. Tel has been highly regarded as one of the most sensational talents coming through, it is a coup of a transfer that the Lilywhites supporters would celebrate, especially given the situation with injuries at Hotspur Way leading to the move.
Jamie O’Hara expresses Tel concern

While the Spurs faithful remain excited about the transfer, former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara has raised his concerns regarding the potential impact that the 19-year-old can have at White Hart Lane while questioning whether the French starlet can deliver the immediate results that Ange Postecoglou desperately needs at the moment.
Speaking in a discussion on talkSPORT, O’Hara also went on to bring out the scepticism he holds surrounding another of Spurs winter transfers, Kevin Danso.
He said:
“Here’s my take on the transfers. Mathys Tel could be a good player, we don’t know, he was backup at Bayern Munich.
“We signed Danso, who we hijacked from Wolves because Dragusin has got injured until the end of the season, he’s out, so we needed a centre-half. Do I know anything about him? No. I’d be lying If I knew anything about him. Is he a top player? We don’t know. Again, you’re buying potential to be a good player.
“I think we’re covering up the cracks a little bit the Mathy Tel signing. We don’t even know if he’ll be a success.”
It has been a challenging season at Hotspur Way, and while O’Hara’s sentiments stem from a lack of planning at the top level and how Levy and his team have been rather reactive along the window, both the signings, Tel as well as Danso, can go on to play an important role in Spurs season. While Tel is a gifted forward, Danso is a highly regarded centre-back—both of them filling in two positions that the North Londoners desperately need owing to injury concerns.
