Tottenham have signed Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich
Tottenham Hotspur were patient in securing deals in the recently concluded January transfer window. The club upped their transfer activity during the final days of the window, signing defender Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens before pulling off a significant coup by securing a loan deal for Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel.
Spurs’ patience in getting a deal done for Mathys Tel paid off on the deadline day as they beat the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal to the punch. The Frenchman has now made his way to North London on loan for the remainder of the season with the lofty reputation of being an incredible young prospect, despite just being a bit-part player for Bayern Munich.
The pressure and expectation on the young shoulders of the forward will be extremely high because it has seemingly taken Daniel Levy and Co. to pull out all the stops to get him in at the club. They have paid an eye-watering €10m loan fee to sign the teenage prodigy, whilst covering his full salary until the end of the season.

Tel now says joining Tottenham was the “best option for him” after making a loan switch from the Bundesliga giants.
“Why I chose Tottenham, because that was the best option for me, what was important for me,” Tel said in his first official interview with the club.
“I felt the commitment, I spoke with the president [chairman Daniel Levy], talked with the manager. I’m young, I’ve started to grow up and this was the best option for me and I’m very happy.
“I’m very excited to play with my teammates, for the fans. That’s a new challenge for me, a new chapter to open. Very excited about it.”
With Tel only 19 and having not been a regular starter for Bayern, how he adapts to the demands of English football and Postecoglou’s system at Tottenham remains the big question mark surrounding the highly-rated forward. The Hotspur Way chiefs believe Tel is a brilliant young prospect, which prompted them to go all out of their way to bag his signature.

Big Ange has endured an unprecedented injury situation in his second season at White Hart Lane, with key players missing over the last three months. The forward situation is grim at the moment because of injuries to Dominic Solanke, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert.
