Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy spent the recently concluded winter transfer window chasing multiple midfielders, with Italian maestro Nicolo Fagioli being part of the list of targets at White Hart Lane.

Message to Dragusin

Fagioli was looked at as an ideal solution to bring in-depth and dynamism in Ange Postecoglou’s midfield, and while the move didn’t conclude in January, the 23-year-old has sent a message to the North Londoners central defender Radu Dragusin after he picked up a season-ending ACL injury. The Romanian ace took to Instagram to announce that he will undergo surgery on the back of the injury that he sustained in Tottenham’s Europa League game against Elfsborg last week, and Fagioli reached out to Radu with a supportive message, urging him to “come back soon.”

Dragusin and Fagioli came through the youth ranks together.

For Tottenham, now the injury to Dragusin has come at a bad time given how Micky van de Ven has just returned from a spell on the sidelines, and now Postecoglou will have to call upon winter signing Kevin Danso to take up his place at the heart of defence.

And about Tottenham’s pursuit of Nicolo Fagioli, Serie A side Fiorentina brought him in the winter window in a €2.5 million loan deal with a €13.5 million obligation to buy when summer comes around.
