Mathys Tel has spoken about how his friend and fellow French talent Wilson Odobert played a key role in bringing the 19-year-old sensation to White Hart Lane.
Tel has been subject to links with a move to Tottenham Hotspur for the better part of the winter transfer window; however, he went on to initially turn down a move to N17 before ultimately making a U-turn in his decision and flying to London to complete his loan move from Bayern Munich on deadline day.
In a way, it is a major coup for the Lilywhites; the transfer includes an option for the North Londoners to convert the loan into a permanent move when the summer window comes around for a €55m fee, which will see Tel pen down a six-year contract at Hotspur Way.
Mathys Tel speaks about Wilson Odobert role in Tottenham transfer

Speaking in his first interview since moving to England, Tel spoke about Odobert, his teammate in the French youth national teams, who played a significant role in convincing the 19-year-old to make the move.
“I talked with Wilson,” Tel speaking via. The Standard. “He told me, ‘Come, you have to come here.’ He’s my friend; I played with him for the French team. He’s a good friend, and he told me I should come, [that] it’s a great team, and I’ll see it’s very nice.”
As the 2005-born forward settles into life at White Hart Lane, the focus will now shift to whether he can adapt to the demands of English football and the Premier League, with former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara doubting the immediate impact that the Frenchman can have at Spurs.
