Sky pundit slams Tottenham under Postecoglou after Liverpool defeat

published :

The pressure on Ange Postecoglou’s shoulders continues to rise as Tottenham Hotspur had a day to forget as they were knocked out of the EFL Cup in the semi-finals, where Liverpool humiliated the Lilywhites at Anfield Stadium.

It was a tie of two tales. The North Londoners played like they had something to prove in the first leg, while they forgot to kick the ball in the away leg with what could be described as a toothless performance. Spurs went into the Anfield tie with a 1-0 lead, but soon they started losing the plot as Cody Gakpo netted the opener for the hosts after around half an hour, and the tie was all drawn at 1-1 going into halftime. But Arne Slot’s side came out in the second half like they belonged, as goals from Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Virgil van Dijk ensured that the North Londoners had to call close to their EPL Cup pursuit.

After what has been a difficult league campaign, a lot of Lilywhites supporters put a lot of their good on the Carabao Cup, especially after that first leg, but the underwhelming performances continued for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The Australian’s time at White Hart Lane could be one to be soon questioned given how Spurs have been playing this season. And Jamie Redknapp, a former player who has featured for Liverpool as well as Tottenham, insists that Postecoglou has lost the plot at Hotspur Way. He goes on to question the 59-year-old’s tactics.

Speaking on Sky Sports (via. BBC), the former Spurs midfielder said:

“I’ve seen squads beat Tottenham recently… look at Ipswich. Do you not think Ruud van Nistelrooy would have loved to have the Tottenham squad before they played Leicester and they still get beaten?

“Everyone seems to find a way to beat this Tottenham side and the manager now baffles me with his tactics sometimes. I think he is completely lost in what he wants to do.
Tottenham showed Liverpool miles too much respect.”
