Tottenham Hotspur supporters had all hopes set on their 1-0 lead in the EFL Cup semi finals as the Lilywhites continue their silverware chase but it was an underwhelming performance from Ange Postecoglou’s side, who were nowhere near up for fight against Liverpool at Anfield Stadium yesterday which saw the Reds win 4-0 on the night to book their place in the finale vs Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium.
To put things into perspective, the visitors failed to have a shot on target on the night despite heading into the game with everything to play and protect.
Carragher mocks Tottenham after defeat vs the Reds

And it was one of those performances that can get a head coach called out of his duties, and while we will see what happens with Ange Postecoglou going forward as he continues to face the wrath of sack, the Sky Sports Live punditry panel took no time in calling out Spurs’ toothless performance.
Former Liverpool star turned pundit Jamie Carragher went on to insist that League Two side Accrington, who also lost 4-0 at Anfield Stadium last month in their third round FA Cup tie, managed to threaten the Reds more than what Tottenham did yesterday night.
He said (via. Tottenham News):
“[There was] a cup tie Liverpool played a few weeks ago in the FA Cup, against Accrington Stanley. Liverpool didn’t play their best team, don’t get me wrong, but they gave more than Tottenham to try and cause Liverpool a problem in the game. That’s not right.”

The Lilywhites have had an underwhelming run in the league, and the Carabao Cup was one glimpse of hope in a dodgy season; it was all taken rather humiliatingly. And now Tottenham have two fronts to fight for this season, the FA Cup and Europa League, and they will face Aston Villa in the former competition this weekend. And should Unai Emery’s side get the better of Tottenham, Spurs season would hang by threads in the space of three days, and so will Postecoglou’s job.
