Richarlison suffered a fresh injury problem against Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final
Tottenham Hotspur were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the semi-final stage on Thursday as Liverpool ran out 4-1 winners on aggregate.
Ange Postecoglou and Co. went to Anfield boasting a 1-0 lead but they were no match for Arne Slot’s in-form team who comprehensively beat them 4-0 on the night to reach the Carabao Cup final. It turned out to be an easy night for the Reds as goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk sealed the deal and eliminated Spurs.
The Lilywhites suffered yet another injury setback on the night with Richarlison going down in the second half against Liverpool. He had to be forced off the pitch with what looked like a calf problem and was replaced by January signing Mathys Tel.

The Brazilian has struggled to find his feet at Hotspur Way since his coveted move from Everton in the summer of 2022, and the club chiefs have started growing frustrated with the 27-year-old as they look to lay curtains to his time at White Hart Lane. The forward has sustained another injury after only returning last month from a prolonged period on the sidelines.
Ange Postecoglou faced the media after Spurs’ 4-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool on Thursday. When asked to shed light on Richarlison’s fresh injury problem, the Tottenham boss told Football London:
“It looks like his calf. It didn’t look too good after the game, so probably one to add to the list.”
Those were the words of a frustrated coach whose injury problems just don’t seem to come to an end. Richarlison has barely featured for Tottenham this season. Back-to-back hamstring injuries sidelined him for months, limiting him to 14 appearances across competitions to date. Now this fresh injury setback—a calf problem—could mean further loss of action on the pitch.

Not only could the South American forward’s injury prove detrimental for the North Londoners by further cutting down their squad strength, but it could also spell the end of the player’s career at the club after failing to show any decent reliability in terms of fitness in the last two years. The ex-Everton man’s injury also comes at a terrible time, considering he had only returned to action and the already ongoing treatments in the squad.

Richarlison, who has seemingly lost the edge at Spurs as per former player turned pundit Troy Deeney, has constantly been linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. His future is going to come under the scanner once again at the end of the season.
The Brazilian international had only played a few games since returning from injury last month but now faces a while more on the sidelines. The diagnosis will follow soon but Big Ange will hope that this time around, it’s not a serious issue.
