The Lilywhites suffered a humiliating thumping against Liverpool in the 4-0 defeat in the EFL Cup semi-finals at Anfield Stadium last night, and it was a toothless performance from Tottenham Hotspur as Ange Postecoglou’s side didn’t look like they were up to the fight against Arne Slot’s highly flying Reds.
The visitors went into the second leg in Merseyside with a 1-0 lead in the tie and had a lot to play for, but none of the players showed up, and the hosts were quick to make amends from the first leg. Centre forward Cody Gakpo fired in Liverpool’s first just after the half-an-hour mark as the tie went all draw at the halftime. But the second half at L4 was all Liverpool as goals from Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Virgil van Dijk ensured that the North Londoners had to call close to their EPL Cup pursuit.
Redknapp speaks on Tottenham performance vs Liverpool

And midfielder Jamie Redknapp, who featured for the Lilywhites as well as the Reds, was taken aback by what Tottenham did in the game. Speaking on Sky Sports, he insisted he had never seen any team in his lifetime put up a leader fight in a big game like what Postecoglou’s Spurs did at Anfield yesterday.
He also couldn’t believe that Tottenham didn’t register a shot on target all game while terming the performance as “horrendous.”
Speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp said:
“I cannot remember a team in my lifetime going down with less of a fight than what Spurs did today. Not having one shot on target in the semi-final of a second leg when you’re trying to change the course of your history? There have been some lows—Palace, Ipswich, and Everton this season. But when you look at that today, the scoreline? Just horrendous.”

With a faltering league campaign and EFL Cup out of the question, Tottenham have all to play for in the FA Cup and Europa League, and they will face Aston Villa at the weekend in the former competition, and if they are knocked out then—the North Londoners season season will hang by a thread in the space of three days, and so will Postecoglou’s future at White Hart Lane.
