It’s safe to say the developments were interesting in the lead-up to Mathys Tel’s move to Tottenham from Bayern Munich in the final hours of the recently concluded winter transfer window.
However, reports regarding him wanting to move elsewhere have already started making the rounds.
Mathys Tel ready for Man United move despite recent Ange Postecoglou claim

As reported by GiveMeSport, French forward Mathys Tel remains keen on a to Man United despite making the switch to Tottenham Hotspur just a few days ago.
The revelation comes even more as a surprise given Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou hinted strongly not too long ago that the French teenager’s move from Bayern Munich would be made permanent in the summer.
Both United and Spurs were looking to get Tel in the recently-concluded January transfer window before a call with Postecoglou convinced the 19-year-old to move to Hotspur Way on an initial €10m loan move. Spurs can make the move permanent for €60 million in the summer.
Tel made his debut last night as Tottenham squandered their 1-0 advantage and lost 4-0 away to Liverpool in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie.
The France U21 international’s numbers for Bayern read: 16 goals and seven assists in 83 appearances.
TTLB Opinion
A lot has been said regarding Tel recently, albeit reports are conflicting. Some insist he did reject a move to Spurs in the beginning, but Postecoglou wants us to believe otherwise, though what we know is what has happened—he’s now at Spurs.
Given his age and versatility, we can also see why United were in for him, but if it has to come down between Spurs and United, it’s fair to say the young players have a better chance of individual growth as a Lilywhite. United has famously proved to be a graveyard for some of the world’s biggest talents over the past decade; unless they can show themselves to be different, it’s hard to advocate for young players in particular moving there.
Regardless of what Tel wants or believes, we believe he will grow better at Spurs—barring the injury scares, of course.
