Ange Postecoglou has been eyeing a move for a new striker in the upcoming summer window as Daniel Levy looks to bring in a commendable backup to Dominic Solanke, and the north Londoners have been subject to links with a move for Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The England international will be a free agent at the conclusion of the ongoing campaign, and Daniel Levy will be looking to take advantage of his contract situation; however, Spurs wouldn’t be along in the pursuit of DCL, with Premier League heavyweights Manchester United also looking to sign the 27-year-old, per Fichajes.
Manchester United to hijack Tottenham’s move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

The 27-year-old would be a cost-effective option to bolster the squad for both clubs. For United, they have to manage their Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) threshold and the always-increasing wage bill, while for Tottenham, Levy has multiple positions to bolster, and saving money while getting a quality player through the doors would be massive to invest in other positions.
And while Calvert-Lewin has had his fair share of injury problems, he has shown his fitness of late, and if he is to maintain his fitness, he can be a valuable asset in the Tottenham camp, given how he not only offers depth but also fits into Ange Postecoglou’s need for a ball-playing striker who is an aerial menace.
For United, Ruben Amorim appears very keen on bringing in a top-class striker, and Calvert-Lewin fits the bill. The Manchester Reds have also been linked with other strikers like Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres; however, they will come with a huge financial cost.
