“There is pressure on both sides…” – Man United claim emerges for £8.3m Tottenham arrival

Ange Postecoglou has endured a difficult time at White Hart Lane in the ongoing season; however, alongside the North Londoners, Manchester United are also languishing in the second half of the Premier League table as the frustrations among the supporters at both clubs continue to grow, and now the boards at the respective clubs responded with transfers where we welcomed Antonin Kinsky, Kevin Danso, and Mathys Tel at White Hart Lane, while Manchester United signed Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven in the recently concluded winter window.

And while the January window only ended last week, the pushovers have already started regarding the upcoming summer transfer interval with one player expected to be the centre of attention in the tug-of-war between both the clubs, Mathys Tel.

While the French striker moved to Hotspur Way this January, it was a saga that took the paper’s headlines where both clubs looked ensured to snap his signature at some point of the month.

Tel may still end up preferring a move to M16

Who is Mathys Tel? Scout report on the new Tottenham loanee.
Mathys Tel could leave behind a legacy at Tottenham Hotspur… but provided he ends up at N17.

The Lilywhites won the tug of war this winter with Tel making his debut donning the Spurs badge against Liverpool in the midweek, and the club does possess an option to make the move a permanent prospect; however, any transfer is said to be not guaranteed despite the option with the 19-year-old’s approval to be critical to trigger the option.

And Tel may still prefer to move to Old Trafford.

Levy took a massive risk

And according to Dan Plumley, Daniel Levy and Tottenham are said to have taken a massive risk in bringing Mathys Tel after Manchester United dropped out of the race, Dan Plumley has said. Spurs paid a massive £8.3 million for the loan, complemented by covering his full wages for only half of a season.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Tottenham News, Plumley said:

“There is pressure on both sides. I think he is only 19 as well, so they’ve got to factor in the age of the player, he’s been thrown into the limelight here.

“What’s interesting is we’re led to believe that Man United I think turned down the loan option on the same player.

“I guess people will point to that, certainly if it doesn’t work out, you will see the way the story will go, but there is always that pressure, and one thing that clubs are always looking to do and we know how Daniel Levy operates, is that also takes the pressure off Spurs.

“You can spin in that way, because if they had just gone out and bought him for £45million, we would have looked at it differently, but given the loan first, albeit with a hefty price tag and still some risk, it does negate that risk to a degree.

“I think that is a strategy they have gone down for that regard. It’s Tottenham, all of their transfers will always be scrutinised, it’s the way we’ve operated with that club over the years so there will be pressure there.”

It is to be seen if Tel uses Tottenham as a stepping stone to join Manchester United.
