Tottenham ace Guglielmo Vicario to start vs Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a difficult time with injuries in the ongoing campaign, and it will come as a massive boost for the Lilywhites supporters that first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is nearing a return to first-team action following what was a lengthy spell in the treatment room, according to injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar.

Vicario nears injury return as progressive overload claim made

The former Empoli star has been on the sidelines since November 23, when the Lilywhites got the better of Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium, and Dr. Brar, who is a doctor in physical therapy and sports scientist, insists that the Italian would be making progress in his rehabilitation process and may need to feature in a reserve game (or two) before he is ready to take up his duties between the posts in the Premier League.

Tottenham face Barcelona competition for Joan Garcia.
Vicario can make his return soon.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Dr. Brar said:

“Sounds like he is progressively increasing how much weight he’s putting on the ankle and how much time he’s in a boot. This will be a sensitive time when you start to load and then see how he responds.

“If he responds well, then you progress to higher intensity and load.

“He does appear close to returning to first-team football and may need to play a game or two with the reserves before he’s ready to start again.“

Kinsky has not been near to the former Empoli star in terms of quality

Vicario’s absence has been deeply felt at N17 given how important he is not only with his reflexes but also with the ball at his feet.

Daniel Levy went out and brought in Antonin Kinsky in the recently concluded January window to provide cover for the 28-year-old, but the Czech goalkeeper has struggled to fill the void left by Vicario at the back.

The winter signing has conceded 11 goals in just seven games between the woodworks, compared to Vicario’s 15 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions this season.

We will see how much time it takes for Vicario to be ready for some first-team action; however, his return will be a big boost to Tottenham and their prospects of salvaging something out of this season.
