Tottenham hold internal discussions to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton
Tottenham Hotspur have endured a forgettable 2024/25 season, and things went from bad to worse after they were eliminated from the Carabao Cup in midweek.
Spurs had a real chance of lifting silverware in Ange Postecoglou’s second season in North London, taking a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their Carabao Cup clash at Anfield. However, they were ripped apart 4-0 by the Reds on the night, winning the tie 4-1 on aggregate to advance to the competition’s final.
Ange Postecoglou was extremely disappointed with his team’s performance in the return leg at Anfield. The focus now will be on the FA Cup and the Europa League, while the Greek-Aussie tactician will also want to vastly improve his team’s position in the Premier League table. However, simultaneously, talks are also going on behind the scenes about the summer transfer window and how to further improve the squad.

According to an exclusive report from FootballTransfers, Tottenham are interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. The North London club have begun their internal talks about the English talent and are set to aggressively push for his signature in the summer. They also want Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling as part of their long-term strategy.
Adam Wharton has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League since his move to Crystal Palace from Championship side Blackburn Rovers in February 2024. The youngster, whose stock has risen significantly over the last 12 months, has already earned an England cap, which demonstrates his vast potential. He also was included in England’s Euro 2024 squad, although the midfielder failed to play a single minute in Germany.
The 21-year-old has had a tough season with the Eagles, spending more than two months on the sidelines following a groin surgery. Wharton has recently returned to action and will want to get back to the levels from last season for Oliver Glasner’s side in the coming months.

The Englishman would be a sensational addition to Postecoglou’s side, enhancing the club’s pool of young talents that already boasts the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert, Destiny Udogie and a few more. Under Big Ange, Tottenham have made it clear that youth development and nurturing is the heart and soul of their project—which is why they signed talents like Gray, Bergvall and Odobert last year and bolstered the group further by adding Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich in the recently concluded winter transfer window.

Given Wharton has a contract at Selhurst Park until 2029 (Transfermarkt), Palace will be in no rush to sell him at the end of the season. Thus, Spurs will have to pay a premium if they intend to sign the England international from the Eagles.
