United push for a Bosman deal for Tottenham defensive target who can replace Romero

published :

There is a dire need for a new defender at White Hart Lane given how Ange Postecoglou has been pushing for a new centre-back for a while now given the number of injuries and lack of depth in the heart of defence at N17, and while Daniel Levy brought in Kevin Danso in the recently concluded winter transfer window. And among the targets at Spurs was Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

The Lilywhites were looking at Jonathan Tah, whose contract with his current employers is due at the end of the current campaign, and Daniel Levy tried to explore a possible bargain deal in January, though while the deal didn’t amount in the winter window, Levy will be expected to try to sign him again in the upcoming summer window.

United enter race for Tah

Tottenham and United looking at Tah

Though alongside Spurs, Premier League heavyweights Manchester United may be looking to make a free transfer move for the Lilywhites target as well, according to reports Fichajes.

For Tottenham, Tah is one of the players who can not only bring in quality but also be one of the mettle of that defensive line, especially given how fragile Postecoglou’s last line has been for a while. And if Cristian Romero were to leave the North Londoners (given the very high possibility for that to happen), the 28-year-old would be an ideal medium-term fix for the Argentine.

And for United, Amorim is looking to strengthen their defence ahead of next season, with Victor Lindelöf and Jonny Evans set to leave Old Trafford at the end of this campaign, and Tah could be one of those budget-friendly options that just makes sense.
