Daniel Levy signed Mathys Tel on deadline day as he helped to solve the striking problems in Ange Postecoglou’s roster in the ongoing campaign. The Frenchman made his debut for the Lilywhites in their 4-0 humiliation against Liverpool last week; however, he got to make his full debut yesterday when the North Londoners visited Villa Park for their FA Cup tie, and the Bayern Munich-owned sensation didn’t fail to impress.
A tough tie, but there was something positive there…
The 19-year-old netted his first goal for Spurs in their 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Sunday, with the winter signing netting a goal in the added time, and while the goal was too little too late for the visitors, it was a goal that would give Tel ample confidence.
It was a difficult game for the Australian head coach given they started on the backfoot after Jacob Ramsey opened the scoring for Villa in the second minute, with Morgan Rogers adding a second goal in the 65th minute; however, Tel was a positive highlight of the game with former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson backing the French ace to be the long-term successor to Heung-Min Son.
Tel takes to IG
Mathys Tel took to Instagram with a classy gesture, thanking the supporters despite the defeat. He wrote, “Thank you to all the fans for the support.”

Now as pressure adds on Postecoglou, the Lilywhites will face fellow big six strugglers Manchester United this Sunday, and it would be an ideal opportunity for Spurs to get back into their stride.
