Ange Postecoglou says ‘nothing changes’ after Tottenham exit the FA Cup
Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup means they have faced successive losses in England’s domestic cups and have been knocked out of two competitions within a matter of days. Understandably, a couple of results, combined with the team’s standing in the Premier League mean that the pressure on Ange Postecoglou is as high as ever.

There have been calls for the Australian to be sacked with Spurs realistically standing a chance of winning only the Europa League this season as a top-four berth in the Premier League also seems unachievable. The media quizzed him about his future once more, to which Postecoglou replied by saying the following (h/t The Standard).
“Nothing really changes. We’ve got a couple of weeks now where we don’t have midweek games. This group of players has done an unbelievable job for two and a half months. Unbelievable job. Can’t praise them highly enough for the effort they put in. It is small group of players playing, twice a week since November.”
Whether or not Postecoglou remains in the Tottenham job remains to be seen, especially with a meeting between the board and the manager reportedly scheduled for this week. If Spurs were to fire him, it would be hard to disagree with their decision given that the results have been not good enough across any competition since the start of the year.
Just one Premier League win to their name, along with a couple in the Europa League where qualification was already sealed do not really mean much in the grand scheme of things. A bit of hope was reignited when Tottenham beat Liverpool in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final but that game also did not matter much after the team was thumped in the reverse fixture four days ago.
