Tim Sherwood names ‘prolific’ striker who would thrive under Ange Postecoglou

Harry Redknapp thinks Ange Postecoglou is under pressure at Tottenham Hotspur.

Daniel Levy has been looking to bring in a new striker in the upcoming window, and former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood insists that one ‘prolific’ centre forward would score for fun at White Hart Lane if the Lilywhites manage to land his signature in the upcoming transfer window.

Spurs recently brought in Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich as Ange Postecoglou looks to bring in a clinical presence in front of goal. And Tim Sherwood believes that the Lilywhites icon could be scoring for fun if the North Londoners were to bring him to N17 once again, given how the England international would fit perfectly under Ange Postecoglou’s all-out attacking brand of football.

When Harry Kane left Hotspur Way, he left a big void in the forward line, a hole very difficult to fill. And Daniel Levy decided to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in the previous summer transfer window, with the former Chelsea man having a bit of injury struggles given Spurs sole dependency on his antics upfront with backup Richarlison serving the sidelines for the majority of the campaign.

Bring back Kane?

Now inconsistency in front of goal has left the Lilywhites 14th in the Premier League table, and Sherwood thinks that getting Kane back upfront will boost Tottenham’s goal-scoring ability in the current brand of football that they have deployed at White Hart Lane.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Sherwood said:

“Wherever [Kane] comes back to, he comes back to where he thinks he can win something in the English league. And beat [Shearer’s] record, which means scoring a lot of goals.

“Which he would do at Tottenham under Postecoglou, to be fair. They play all-out attack. Kane will score a lot of goals. Spurs score a lot, but they concede. So he will want to win trophies.

“Looks like he’s going to win a domestic league at Bayern. They won 3-0 last night. He scored another brace. He’s prolific. He won’t let up. He’ll keep going.”

Danny Murphy thinks Liam Delap could be Harry Kane's successor at Tottenham.
Should Tottenham bring back Harry Kane?

It is to be seen if Levy and Tottenham remain interested in getting Kane back to N17. But the fact that he still has to chase Alan Shearer’s goal-scoring record might get him back in North London.
