Tottenham star Son Heung-min wanted by Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho
After a hugely underwhelming season, the majority of the Tottenham Hotspur squad can have no complaints if they look to offload them in the summer.
Spurs were eliminated from the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup last week while reeling in 14th in the Premier League table. Despite changing the transfer policy of investing in young talent with high potential, the North Londoners have lacked success. It is safe to say things have not worked out so far, and a complete revamp could be required to put the club on the right path.
Amidst the chaos at White Hart Lane, Son Heung-min has been linked with an exit from Tottenham. According to Turkish news outlet Sabah, Fenerbahce SK are eyeing a summer move for the Spurs skipper.

The Yellow Canaries strengthened their squad in the 2025 transfer intervals by bringing in the likes of Talisca, Diego Carlos, Milan Skriniar and Ognjen Mimovic. Their boss Jose Mourinho also wanted to reunite with Son Heung-min in Istanbul, with Fenerbahce SK enquiring to Spurs about their talisman’s availability and conditions of a potential deal.
However, the aforementioned report adds Tottenham have no intention of letting Son leave in the winter window, which is still open in Turkey. This has led to the Fenerbahce officials now eyeing a move for the South Korean star in the summer when he will have just a year left on his contract (Transfermarkt). They have made the 32-year-old a top transfer target before the 2025/26 Super Lig season commences.
Son recently had his contract extended by another year by the club, but with Spurs moving into a new era, they now have some big decisions to make in attack. Despite netting ten goals and registering a further eight assists across all competitions so far this season, the versatile forward’s alarming dip in performance levels has left the club chiefs concerned.

Son’s performances against Liverpool and Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, respectively, were substandard. Things are not going right for him at this moment, with the South Asian superstar looking tired and devoid of any confidence. He hasn’t just looked the same this season, and with Fenerbahce planning to go for the offensive in the summer, Daniel Levy must cash in on Son.
Son has been a sensational servant to the club but few can deny that he has been a player in decline of late. It would be best for both parties to go their separate ways in the summer and seek their own paths. Whether that will be to reunite with Jose in Turkey remains to be seen.

While selling Son in the past was unthinkable, it now feels the time is right for the club icon’s chapter in North London to end. By activating a one-year extension last month, which was a smart move by Levy, Spurs can get a fee for our modern-day legend and avoid losing him for free in the summer.
