Tottenham have scouted Sunderland talent Chris Rigg during this season
Under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur have made it clear that youth development is at the core of their project—as evidenced by their decision to invest in young talents such as Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Wilson Odobert and Yang Min-hyeok last year.
Spurs enhanced its pool of young talent by adding forward Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich in the recently concluded winter transfer window. The current squad at the Australian tactician’s disposal is filled with young and exciting talent, and the club are keen to continue going down the same lane in the future.
Sunderland youngster Chris Rigg, who is on the radar of Tottenham, has been making waves in the Championship. The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the best young players to make a mark in the Championship since Jude Bellingham. He has been heavily linked with several Premier League clubs, including Spurs, over the last year and could finally be on the move this next transfer window.

Despite being only 17, Chris Rigg has made 54 competitive appearances for Sunderland, scoring seven goals and registering one assist. With interest in the youngster growing, a report from CaughtOffside claims that the Black Cats have accepted the fact that they can no longer keep hold of their midfield starlet. While the Championship outfit managed to keep hold of him in the winter transfer window, they are now open to do business starting at £25 million.
The England Under-17 international’s talent is clear to see for everyone. Rigg fits the bill perfectly at Tottenham owing to his profile, age and potential. The Sunderland talent could be a fantastic long-term replacement for Yves Bissouma, who could be cashed in the summer when he enters the final year of his contract.
Tottenham fans are expecting several major signings in the summer after an underwhelming 2024/25 season, with the club also set to try and sign exciting up-and-coming talents like they have been doing in recent windows.

Given the growing interest in the player, however, it would be difficult for the Lilywhites to lure Rigg to White Hart Lane. But the Hotspur Way chiefs have to do their best to snap him up at a modest £25 million—which in the future could appear to be a snip.
All in all, signing one of the hottest Championship talents in Rigg would be a massive display of intent from Tottenham.
