Tottenham are in a strong position to sign Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane on a free transfer
Tottenham Hotspur have endured a disastrous Premier League season where they currently lie in 14th place in the table.
Ange Postecoglou has dealt with an unprecedented injury situation in his second season in North London, which has largely affected his team’s performance levels and routines. Whether or not the Australian tactician remains in the hotseat beyond this season is a question for every Spurs fan, but the club bosses have seemingly started planning for the summer transfer window.
Tottenham are planning to offload Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Timo Werner at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. They are keen to reduce the wage bill and moving on the experienced trio could see Spurs save £445k-a-week in wages. Should Son, Richarlison and Werner all depart in the same transfer window, the Lilywhites would be required to invest in quality and experienced forwards to replace them in the squad.

According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham have emerged as a serious contender to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane. They have been joined by Barcelona in showing an interest in the German international.
Bayern Munich have tried their best to tie Leroy Sane to a new deal since last year. However, nothing has come to fruition so far and it is believed that the Bavarians have now given up hope of keeping hold of the 29-year-old, who is out of contract (Transfermarkt) at the end of the season. This means the versatile forward is highly likely to depart the Allianz Arena on a free transfer.
Barcelona’s dire financial situation will not allow them to invest heavily in an attacking player when they already have the likes of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Ferran Torres on their roster. The aforementioned report adds that Tottenham are now in a ‘strong position’ to secure Sane’s signature on a free transfer this summer following recent contacts between them and the player’s representatives.

In Sane, who has been linked with a move to N17 of late, Tottenham would get a decorated wide player with volumes of experience playing at the highest level. The German spent three full seasons with Manchester City with whom he won two Premier League titles, three Carabao Cups and the FA Cup once. Due to his past experience of playing in England, he should be expected to hit the ground running in the Premier League if a move to Spurs materialises.

At 29, the Essen-born forward is operating at the peak of his powers and could be a fine potential replacement for the ageing Son. If Sane manages to keep his fitness intact and perform consistently, the North Londoners could land a top player without spending a transfer fee.
