Tottenham set to battle Newcastle and Bournemouth for the signing of Feyenoord star Igor Paixao
Tottenham Hotspur have endured a disastrous Premier League season where they currently lie in 14th place in the table.
Ange Postecoglou has had to deal with persistent injury problems in his second season at White Hart Lane. This has largely hampered his team’s progress, as evidenced by their league position. Whether or not the Greek-Australian tactician retains his position beyond this season is a question for every Spurs fan, but the Hotspur Way chiefs have seemingly started planning for the summer transfer window.
Tottenham are planning to revamp the squad after an extremely poor 2024/25 campaign. As part of the revamp, they are looking to offload Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Timo Werner at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. The Hotspur Way chiefs want to trim the wage bill, and moving on the experienced trio could see Spurs save £445k-a-week in wages.

Should Son, Richarlison and Werner all depart in the same transfer window, the North London outfit would be required to invest in quality and experienced attackers to replace them in the squad. And they have started scouting missions for several players plying their trades in different European leagues.
According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Tottenham have joined Newcastle United and Bournemouth for the signing of highly-rated Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao. He is a player that Spurs are well aware of, having scouted him multiple times earlier this season.
The Brazilian was superb in Feyenoord’s 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the Champions League knockout play-offs on Thursday evening, netting the winner and running ex-Manchester City star Kyle Walker ragged. He gave Walker a torrid time at De Kuip, beating the experienced Milan right-back after just three minutes before firing in at the near post.

Igor Paixao has already scored eight goals and supplied 14 assists across all competitions for Feyenoord this season. The aforementioned report adds the Eredivisie club rates the 24-year-old at around £25million, with the player keen on a summer move to the Premier League.

At 24, the Macapa-born talent is perhaps at the right age to make the step up from the Eredivisie to the Premier League, and a move to Tottenham would be excellent for his development. Paixao has the ingredients in his game to thrive in Big Ange’s fast, pressing and attacking system, whilst being a smart long-term replacement for the ageing Son at White Hart Lane.
With Feyenoord valuing him just in the region of £25million, Spurs must do everything within their powers to beat Bournemouth and Newcastle to Paixao’s signature.
