The need to bring in a new forward has been extensive at White Hart Lane, and the North Londoners have been vying to move for multiple highly acclaimed attackers from the English top tier, and Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo has been one of the reported targets for the North Londoners.
Ange Postecoglou’s side has been enduring a difficult campaign in the Premier League as they sit in the bottom half of the table and far from their objectives of a probable Champions League qualification. And to add to the woes in the English top tier, the North Londoners were also kicked out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup in the space of three days last week as the season at N17 now hangs by a thread.
Why Mbeumo fits the bill

Daniel Levy would be looking to ensure that the problems that the Australian head coach is facing this season aren’t among uncertainties at Hotspur Way in the next season, and one of the things that Spurs have lacked is the clinicality in front of goal, and that is where the need for someone like Mbeumo comes in.
The Cameroon international has been making noise with his performances for the Bees this season, with many comparing the 25-year-old to Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah for his ability to come inside from that right-hand space and find a moment of brilliance. And then comes his knack for finding goals and assisting that could bring much-needed spark in a struggling attacking setup at White Hart Lane. He does possess pace complemented by that creativity and goal-scoring ability to become an integral part of the setup at N17.
He comes with a hefty price tag

According to a recent report by Football Insider citing Newcastle United’s interest in Mbeumo, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke indicated that a fee of around £50 million could be enough for Brentford to sell him. That being said, Spurs and Newcastle aren’t alone in vying for his signature, given how other European elites are also looking to sign the talented forward.

For Tottenham, it is important that Levy brings in a clinical player who has the mentality to push the attack on his own, something that the likes of Kane and Son did for years, and Mbeumo does present that opportunity. But it is to be seen how the North Londoners’ interest in him progresses between now and the summer window.
