Paratici recommends Italian manager to Tottenham as Postecoglou’s possible replacement

Paratici looking to convince Tottenham to acquire Inzaghi

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has very little control over his future, especially after the events that unfolded in their last two games. A humiliating defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final was followed up by another loss, in the FA Cup on the latter occasion, versus Aston Villa, thus seeing their bids to win two domestic trophies come to an end within a matter of days.

The Europa League remains a realistic possibility for the Lilywhites, especially if they have their best players available for the business end of the season but failure in winning the competition, coupled with the team’s substandard Premier League standing could result in Postecoglou being shown the door, possibly at the end of the campaign.

Fabio Paratici is reportedly convincing the board to sign Simone Inzaghi as the Australian’s successor with Bryan King reportedly saying the following on the matter to Tottenham Hotspur News.

“For everything that we hear about Johan Lange and Scott Munn, whatever Paratici says will be valued higher than those two. I’ve seen him at the stadium myself. Therefore, it is interesting that he has recommended Inzaghi. We’re talking about a good coach who has done a lot of great work with Inter Milan. However, I still think Postecoglou will be given until the end of the season.”

Inzaghi has barely put a put wrong at Inter Milan and would firmly be in their plans for the near future, so it is difficult to see him become easily convinced by Tottenham’s interest, even if the Londoners are eventually convinced into his hiring by Paratici. Moreover, under Daniel Levy, the Lilywhites are unlikely to be an attractive destination for managers either.

Over the last few years, a number of ambitious individuals, including the likes of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, have been fired uncharacteristically for trying to change the culture and demanding better players to compete for silverware. And for a chief who has spent much of his tenure trying to boost the club’s finances, sporting ambitions seem to have reasonably low priorities.

Inzaghi’s football could be influential for the Premier League, but to think he would join Tottenham seems like a distant proposition, at least until Levy is at the club.
