Tottenham will have to break the bank to sign Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram in the summer
The speculation surrounding Ange Postecoglou has only intensified following Tottenham Hotspur’s back-to-back eliminations from domestic cup competitions.
Spurs are 15th in the Premier League table, having lost more games than wins and draws combined. As a result, names of several managers have popped up to replace Ange Postecoglou at White Hart Lane. The recent name that has been thrown into the mix is Simone Inzaghi.
Simone Inzaghi has been doing a stellar job at Inter Milan since joining them in 2021. The Italian’s stock has only grown in recent years. After taking Inter Milan to the 2022/23 Champions League final, where they lost to Manchester City, he led them to a resounding Serie A triumph last season as the Nerazzurri won the Scudetto with an overwhelming 19-point lead over runners-up and bitter rivals, AC Milan.

Thus, it isn’t surprising that Daniel Levy and Co. are keeping tabs on Inzaghi as a potential option to replace Postecoglou. It is believed that should Tottenham lose to Manchester United on Sunday, the club bosses may opt to sack Postecoglou and bring in Inzaghi with a view to the 2025/26 season.
To convince Inzaghi to spearhead their project at N17, Spurs are ready to make a ‘rich’ contract offer and are even willing to give him complete control over transfers. Also, they could bring in one of Inter’s stars to White Hart Lane in the summer.
According to a report from Inter Live, Tottenham are set to target Inter centre-forward Marcus Thuram, who has been identified as a priority to fill the void left by the legendary Harry Kane in the summer of 2023.
The Lilywhites have been following Marcus Thuram since his Borussia Monchengladbach days in the Bundesliga. Since he arrived at Inter on a free transfer from Gladbach in the summer of 2023, the Frenchman’s game has gone onto another level under Inzaghi’s tutelage. He was among the chief contributors towards Inter’s Scudetto-winning 2023/24 campaign, where the forward netted 13 goals and supplied as many assists in 35 league games.

The aforementioned report adds Inter would demand at least €80 million to sell Thuram, which means Spurs have to break the bank and smash their transfer record for the second summer running.
Ideally, it would be a tall order for the North Londoners to splash at least €80 million to tempt Inter to sell Thuram, but with the club chiefs planning to move on the likes of Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Timo Werner as a part of the squad revamp, they may well have the room to spend big on a marquee signing.

Thuram is a very good player and has proven himself in two major European leagues—Bundesliga and Serie. However, the France international doesn’t warrant €80 million. But if Spurs have set their sights on Inzaghi to become their next boss, the club chiefs may well have to spend a fortune and sign Thuram to boost their chances of luring the Italian tactician to N17.
