There has been a sense of increasing pressure on Ange Postecoglou owing to the inconsistent performances of Tottenham Hotspur this season, and this pressure has led the Australian head coach to face the wrath of sack with a wide section of the lilywhites supporters wanting the former Celtic manager gone. It comes from a wide range of struggles along the season rather than a moment of madness.
The North Londoners have been failing to find a win in their past seven league games at N17, and this frustrating run includes just two draws and five losses, and this run now marks Spurs’ worst performance in the league since 2008, as the Lilywhites languish in 14th place on the EPL ladder.
While there were silverware hopes beyond the Premier League, exits from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the space of three days have added to the discontent among the supporters at White Hart Lane.
The impact of Cup exits

And as Postecoglou faces the wrath of a sack, ESPN journalist James Olley insists that the North Londoners could soon take a decision on pursuing a change in the head coach role, and he went on to suggest another Premier League manager who would be ready to jump boats if the possibility to join Tottenham opens up. Olley suggests that current Fulham manager Marco Silva, who has built a strong reputation for the project that he has undertaken at Craven Cottage, would be among the names that would be open for a move if Daniel Levy views him as a suitable replacement for Ange.
Silva has the potential to manage on the highest level, and he did show desire to join Chelsea before, which can be cited as his openness to move to an elite institution.
Speaking during a discussion on ESPN’s The Football Reporters, Olley said:
“I think Marco Silva is another interesting option. I think that he would leave Fulham. I think he was quite keen to go to Chelsea, had they made a concerted effort to appoint him in the past. So I think he’s ambitious Silva. I think, obviously Fulham, I’m sure, would fight tooth and nail to keep him, but I can see a scenario where Marco Silva certainly courts some interest if there’s a possibility of that.”
Silva has done a job and a half at Fulham

Silva has been in charge of the proceedings at Craven Cottage since 2021, and he has transformed the club from a jumper between the Premier League and Championship to a stable position in the English top tier and now one of the most feared sides outside the big six. And aiding his commitment to Fulham, he did turn down lucrative offers from Saudi clubs to remain at Craven Cottage.
That being said, Silva is not the only figure linked with Postecoglou’s place at White Hart Lane, with Simone Inzaghi also reportedly under consideration.
It is to be seen where this goes.
