Son Heung-min has endured a difficult season at Tottenham
There were many positives for Ange Postecoglou to take from Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Manchester United at home on Sunday, which was their first win at home in the Premier League since November. However, one player that again flattered to deceive was Son Heung-min.
Son Heung-min has looked a shadow of his former self for the majority of this season, often struggling to make an impact in the final third for Spurs. Even after a week’s rest, he was uninspiring in the win over Man United. As a result, there are now doubts emerging over his long-term future at White Hart Lane.
According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham chiefs are worried that Son Heung-min will struggle to regain his mojo and that could result in him losing his first-team status under Ange Postecoglou when the boss has a full squad to select from in the upcoming weeks.

The South Korean’s future became a topic at the start of the season and the months that followed before the club poured cold water into speculation by triggering a one-year extension in his contract. This led to him being tied to Spurs until the summer of 2026 at least (Transfermarkt).
Being the team’s skipper and a leader on his own, Son has been an undisputed starter under Ange Postecoglou. The forward has had his fair share of injury problems that led to him missing some games, but when fit, he has been a regular starter. However, the South Asian superstar’s levels have dropped this season, with him not having the same burst of acceleration, quickness in decision making and the clinical edge to his finishing in front of goal he once possessed.
While the idea of selling Son was once considered unthinkable, Tottenham are now open to cashing him in at the end of the season. The veteran attacker enters the final year of his contract in June and the North London chiefs are expected to seriously assess the offers that come their way during the summer transfer window.

The aforementioned report adds that concerns are growing behind the scenes that Son will not be able to hold onto his first-team spot when all of Tottenham’s attacking options have returned from injury and are back to full tilt. This potentially puts Son’s long-term future at White Hart Lane in jeopardy.

The South Korean ace has scored 172 goals and provided 92 assists in 442 games for Tottenham to earn a modern-day legendary status, and loyal fans will not forget that any time soon. However, Son is well past his prime and barely adding any value to Big Ange’s side now.
Come summer, it would be best for all parties involved to end this decade-long marriage and look ahead to the future.
