There has been a loud call among the Lilywhites supporters to bring in a new midfielder given how Ange Postecoglou has been struggling for competent depth and quality in the middle of the park amidst his need for a dynamic and mobile player who can contribute to multiple phases of the game (something that the Australian’s playing style commands and demands).
We have seen a number of players attributing links with a move to White Hart Lane in the recent windows, with each having common traits of the aforementioned dynamism and mobility complemented by the gas in the tank to keep running in a box-to-box role, though none of those conjecture surmounts into a transfer, and Daniel Levy has been forced to look in the market yet again.
Jobe Bellingham, a target at White Hart Lane

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been looking at getting their hands on highly regarded midfielder Jobe Bellingham when the summer transfer window commences. Given his nineteen-year age, complemented by his impressive performances in the ongoing campaign, it means he has garnered interest among the Premier League elite, who look to pounce on what looks like a promising prospect with a promising future.
At the moment, his current employers are fighting battles with French commander Régis Le Bris commanding the troops to a probable promotion into the English first tier, and if they do fail to do so, the Black Cats may consider selling their top prospect.
Crystal Palace among Competitors for Bellingham

Backing the links to White Hart Lane, Mick Brown, who has been a former scout for the Lilywhites, provided us with insights into a possible transfer, whilst noting that Premier League duo Crystal Palace have been actively scouting the midfield maestro throughout the ongoing campaign, trying to push themselves among the frontrunners should the 19-year-old decide to leave Stadium of Light.
He went on to insist that a substantial offer could prompt Sunderland to part ways with the young midfielder.
Speaking with Football Insider, he said:
“Crystal Palace and Tottenham have had scouts watching him this season so they’ll be two of the teams in the running if he is going to leave.
“So it’ll be up to them to assess whether he’s ready to make that jump.
“From a Sunderland point of view, knowing the way the owners want to operate, I think if they get a huge bid for him then they’ll let him go.“
A move to Spurs

A possible move to Hotspur Way (if it does amount), the North Londoners will be getting a player who is not only apt technically but also has that ability to contribute with goals and assists, someone who can command from the middle of the park with much-needed composure and control for years to come.
Watching this from the player’s perspective, the prospect of moving to a prestigious club like Tottenham is undoubtedly appealing, especially given how Ange Postecoglou isn’t scared of throwing young players at the far end and aiding their development—all whilst representing one of the big six of the Premier League.
