Romero expected to spend a few more weeks out
Tottenham Hotspur’s situation suddenly seems to have improved exponentially with all the criticism surrounding Ange Postecoglou, Daniel Levy and the team, in general, has quietened after the win over Manchester United. James Maddison’s goal gave the Lilywhites a 1-0 home win over the Red Devils last weekend as they did the double over them for the first time in over 30 years.
Spurs are slowly starting to see the back of their injuries as well but a key player from their squad and arguably the leader of their defence, Cristian Romero, remains sidelined. He has missed over two months of action and has yet to play his first minutes of 2025. A bit more bad news has regrettably emerged regarding the Argentine international.

Tottenham Hotspur News quoted Dr. Rajpal Brar, a sports medicine professional, saying the following.
“What makes this tricky is the area of the injury – the quadriceps. There are a lot of demands on these muscles plus depending on the specifics, can also be involved in hip flexion. The club medics will be progressing him methodically through strength and conditioning while carefully monitoring how he responds. I still see him being out for a few weeks.“
Micky van de Ven, however, trained with the team very recently and is closing in on his comeback, which might possibly be early in March. The Dutchman’s injury now seems like a thing of the past and he might only be working on getting match fit. Meanwhile, Archie Gray has done well at central defence, as has new signing Kevin Danso, who has settled in quickly at Tottenham after his transfer in the winter following Radu Dragusin’s ACL injury.

It remains to be seen how much longer Romero requires until he can get going, though, with the international break now only some weeks away, Spurs might look to delay his recovery and declare him fit directly in April in order to avert his trip to feature for Argentina during that spell.
