Tottenham are interested in signing Atalanta star Charles de Ketelaere

The need to bring in a new playmaker has been extensive at White Hart Lane, and Tottenham Hotspur have been vying to move for multiple highly acclaimed attackers across Europe.

Spurs have been enduring a difficult campaign in the Premier League as they sit in the bottom half of the table and far from their objectives of a probable Champions League qualification. And to add to the misery, they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup earlier this month.

Daniel Levy would be looking to ensure the Tottenham coach has a squad that is filled with quality and depth heading into the 2025/26 season. According to a report from CaughtOffside, Spurs are keeping an eye on Charles de Ketelaere’s situation at Atalanta. The playmaker is also wanted by West Ham United as a potential replacement for Lucas Paqueta, who could be heading to the exit door.

Charles De Ketelaere has been excellent for Atalanta this season

Charles de Ketelaere has been a player reborn at Atalanta since leaving AC Milan in 2023. The Belgian playmaker, who moved to Atalanta permanently last summer, has 11 goals and as many assists already this season and is on course to enjoy his most prolific season to date.

He has been superb for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, helping them to third spot in Serie A table after 25 games. The 23-year-old can operate as an attacking midfielder, a striker as well as out wide, and he would be a smart fit in Ange Postecoglou’s system at Spurs.

Due to his creativity, dynamism and goalscoring ability, De Ketelaere could be a great option to challenge Dejan Kulusevski for a spot in Postecoglou’s XI next season. The ex-Club Brugge man could bring in a much-needed attacking spark that Tottenham have lacked at times to unlock rigid defences this season. That combined with his off-the-ball work rate could help the Bruges-born talent an integral part of the setup at N17.

Thus, there are ample reasons why De Ketelaere is a sought-after commodity across the continent currently. If a move to Tottenham materialises, Big Ange will be getting a player who is technically sound and tactically astute—someone who can make the Lilywhites’ attack even more potent.

For Tottenham, it is important that Levy continues to enhance the pool of young talent. De Ketelaere presents that opportunity, however, it is to be seen how the North Londoners’ interest in him progresses between now and the summer window.
