Spurs sent scouts to watch Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor in action against Leeds United

Tottenham scouts watched Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor in action against Leeds United at Elland Road

Tottenham Hotspur were keen to add to their attacking department during the winter transfer window. After struggling for the whole of January, they finally managed to land Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich with an option to buy in the summer on February 3—transfer deadline day.

Even if Spurs were to make Mathys Tel‘s loan move permanent, they would likely be in the market for further reinforcements upfront in the summer. This is because Timo Werner‘s loan spell will come to an end while question marks also remain about Richarlison‘s future at the club, given his injury record.

Tottenham plans to offload Son Heung-min at the end of the season

Son Heung-min is 32 and has shown signs of ageing, so the Lilywhites are also contemplating cashing him in at the end of the season. So, the North Londoners could do with the acquisition of another forward with room to grow.

According to a report from Chronicle Live, Tottenham scouts were present to watch Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor against Leeds United in the Championship on Monday evening.

Representatives from Crystal Palace also monitored the performance of the 24-year-old, who continued his excellent campaign by netting his 12th Championship goal against Leeds at Elland Road, but a brace from substitute Pascal Struijk meant Sunderland were beaten 2-1 earlier this week.

Wilson Isidor joined Sunderland on loan originally in the summer, but during the January transfer window, it was made into a permanent transfer, with the Championship side paying around £3million. The Frenchman has become a cult hero at the Stadium of Light, scoring 12 goals and assisting once in 30 appearances to help propel the Black Cats to fourth in the table—eight points off the second-place Sheffield United.

He has proven to be a competent player in the Championship and is showing no signs of slowing down, with his goalscoring exploits thought to be attracting interest from the Premier League. After failing to live up to his potential at Zenit St. Petersburg, the ex-France Under-20 international finally appears to have come of age since his switch to Sunderland in 2024.

Isidor would fit the bill for Spurs, given his versatility, aerial ability, engine and age, and given Sunderland paid around £3million to secure his permanent services, they are unlikely to ask an astronomical figure if the Lilywhites come calling for his signature.
