Tottenham Hotspur have an opportunity to script three wins on the bounce in the Premier League when they travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The North Londoners registered a 1-0 success over Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday—completing a league double against the Mancunian giants. James Maddison’s goal in the 13th-minute goal eventually turned out to be the winner, and in the process, he also managed to silence critics such as Roy Keane.

Also, Ange Postecoglou’s side registered back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League, having beaten Brentford 2-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium earlier this month. The two positive results have lifted Spurs to 12th in the table, and with five players returning from injuries last weekend, confidence within the camp should be high ahead of the trip to East Angelia.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has now dropped his prediction for the Tottenham vs Ipswich game. Despite the Tractor Boys reeling in the 18th spot, he thinks Kieran McKenna’s side will get a result against Spurs and restrict them to a 2-2 draw.

“Tottenham beating Manchester United and getting a few of their players back from injury makes this a really difficult game for Ipswich. I still think this will be highly entertaining and I’m backing both teams to score goals,” Paul Merson wrote in his Sportskeeda column.

“Ipswich got a brilliant result away from home against Aston Villa last weekend. They were reduced to 10 men and still got the lead in that game before conceding in a 1-1 draw. I’m backing them to get another draw here, but I’m not sure that’s a good result for Ipswich because they need to start getting some wins to stand a chance at avoiding relegation.”

The Tottenham boss will want to register three Premier League wins on the bounce on Saturday

Truly, Ipswich shocked Ange Postecoglou’s side 2-1 in the reverse fixture back in November. It was an extremely tough day in the office for the Tottenham players, who failed to match the visitors’ physicality, running power, pressing and tactics. Spurs were second-best on that day in every department and deserved to lose.

McKenna will have the opportunity to pull off another upset and help his side complete a double over the Lilywhites. However, this time Big Ange’s side are in a different period and have several key members back in the squad. The Australian tactician perhaps will want to go with the same side that beat Man United to get some much-needed continuity and rhythm after persistent injury issues have ravaged our season.
