TalkSPORT pundit Darren Ambrose has hailed Kevin Danso after his fantastic performance against Man United
Tottenham Hotspur looked lost in the January transfer window after the early acquisition of young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague before the club chiefs decided to up the ante in the final days. By doing so, they wrapped up the loan signings of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel.
Both Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel made their Premier League debuts against Manchester United last Sunday. While Tel once again showed glimpses of his potential, Danso produced a stellar display at the back and helped Spurs keep a clean sheet in the victory over Man United.
The Austrian international was assured in everything he did, partnering the experienced Ben Davies at the heart of Spurs’ defence and dealing well with the likes of Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho admirably well.
Before his Premier League debut against United, the 26-year-old had played in the cup games against Liverpool and Aston Villa. Although Spurs were beaten 4-0 in the return leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield and dumped out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa at Villa Park, Danso had performed decently.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s latest show Inside Spurs, former Premier League defender Darren Ambrose expressed he has been impressed with Danso’s performances in a Tottenham shirt so far. He also revealed that the January recruit from RC Lens looks to be a leader at the back.
“In terms of Kevin Danso coming into the team, the biggest compliment you can give him is he’s looked like he’s been there for years. He’s come in, he looks assured. He’s done a recovery tackle on Sunday on Hojlund, who’s not slow, by the way, which was fantastic on Sunday,” Darren Ambrose said on Inside Spurs.
“So yeah, it doesn’t look like a new signing and he looks like he’s a leader.”

Danso has had a really encouraging start to life at Tottenham, even if results have not fully gone our way. The ex-Southampton man appears to be a no-nonsense, strong and competent defender with good composure on the ball. He is also quick through the ground and the recovery pace notably helped him put a crunching challenge on Hojlund in the second half.

The club have an obligation clause inserted in the contract to sign Danso at the end of the season, and evaluating his first three appearances in a Spurs shirt, it would not be wrong to term solid. Few fans may have been concerned after Big Ange revealed that the centre-back had picked up a knock against United and was replaced by Archie Gray in the second half.
However, the Australian tactician has since calmed down the fears by suggesting that Danso picked up a minor knock and he should be fine to face Ipswich Town on Saturday.
