Tottenham Hotspur have decided not to sign Timo Werner permanently from RB Leipzig in the summer
Tottenham Hotspur have endured arguably their worst season in the Premier League. They are currently 12th in the table and, whilst the injury situation is starting to get better, one cannot ignore the fact that Ange Postecoglou still is under pressure to hold onto his job.
The amount of injuries the North Londoners have suffered has been incredible. Any manager would struggle to develop a team and churn out consistent results with persistent injuries and fitness concerns in almost every game. They have had absentees in double figures for large parts of the last three months.
While question marks remain over whether Ange Postecoglou will stay in the hotseat at Spurs next term, the Hotspur Way chiefs have started planning to revamp the squad after a disastrous ongoing campaign.

According to a report from German outlet Bild, Tottenham have no intention of signing Timo Werner permanently from RB Leipzig at the end of the season.
The Germany international did just enough to earn a full season at Spurs after arriving on a six-month loan deal from RB Leipzig midway through the 2023-24 season, bagging two goals and three assists in 13 Premier League appearances. This led to Daniel Levy extending the forward’s loan deal from RB Leipzig and including an option to make the move permanent for £8.5million.
This was the golden opportunity for Timo Werner to prove his detractors wrong by excelling in the Premier League after his failed spell at Chelsea. However, the 28-year-old’s performances this season have left much to be desired. He has not made much of an impact on re-signing for Ange Postecoglou’s side, registering one goal and three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.

Werner, who has been excluded from the Europa League squad for the knockout rounds, is yet to score for Tottenham in the Premier League this season, with his only strike coming in a 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Manchester City at home back in October. Given his underwhelming displays, Tottenham have no intention of making his loan move permanent.
The aforementioned report adds the ex-Chelsea flop will return to RB Leipzig when his loan deal expires in the summer. It makes complete sense why the Hotspur Way chiefs do not want to spend £8.5m on Werner, who does not look cut out for the fast-paced and physical nature of Premier League football.
