Tottenham willing to submit an offer of around €8 million for Villarreal forward Ayoze Perez

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make a move for Villarreal forward Ayoze Perez in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur are keen to strengthen their squad this summer after a troubling season which sees them currently in the bottom half of the table, but manager Ange Postecoglou has retained backing from those above him.

One position they could look to fortify is their attack, given Timo Werner’s loan move is unlikely to be turned into a permanent one from RB Leipzig. Also, Richarlison’s future remains uncertain due to his patchy injury record, while the Hotspur Way chiefs are willing to cash in on Son Heung-min at the end of the season.

Now, according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham have set their sights on landing Villarreal forward Ayoze Perez. They could face competition from Eintracht Frankfurt for the 31-year-old’s signature in the summer.

Ayoze Perez is enjoying a fantastic 2024/25 season in Villarreal colours. The Spaniard has bagged 11 goals in 18 La Liga appearances, helping the Yellow Submarines to fifth in the table and challenge for the Champions League spots. Unsurprisingly, his rich vein of form has not gone unnoticed across Europe, with Tottenham and Frankfurt expressing their interest.

The aforementioned report adds Spurs would be willing to offer around €8 million plus bonuses to sign Perez. Ange Postecoglou is looking to add more depth to his attacking unit and wants to bring the Villarreal star to White Hart Lane.

Perez has volumes of experience of English football from his time at Newcastle United and Leicester City. The opportunity to return to the Premier League and join Tottenham could be appealing for him. Postecoglou has a talented squad and a booming project, even though his second season in North London hasn’t gone as per the plan.

At 31, the ex-Newcastle man is showing there is still life in him with his eye-catching goalscoring displays in La Liga. The four-cap Spanish international possesses the versatility to play anywhere across the front line, and Big Ange would love a player like him in his squad. Not just because of his flexibility but also Perez’s extensive experience and ability to influence games off the bench. And he could turn out to be a reliable backup for Dominic Solanke next season, unlike someone like Richarlison.

That being said, Tottenham must try beating Frankfurt to Perez’s signature as he’d be able to provide at least a couple of quality years to Big Ange’s side.
