Tottenham target Dean Huijsen planning to leave Bournemouth this summer after just one season
There has been a dire need to bring in high-potential defenders at White Hart Lane given how Tottenham Hotspur have suffered defensively this season.
First-choice centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven have missed major chunks of the campaign due to respective injury problems and still remain out. Radu Dragusin’s season is over following an ACL rupture in a Europa League game last month, while Ben Davies has also had hamstring problems.
The January transfer window presented them with an opportunity to reinforce their defensive unit and Daniel Levy acted timely, as Spurs acquired the services of Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens with an obligation to buy clause at the end of the season. And Danso is proving to be quite a smart signing, earning praise from Ange Postecoglou after his strong display in the 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.

However, Tottenham are not resting on their laurels and would want to add more depth at the back after learning lessons from this season. The Lilywhites have been among the clubs to have shown an interest in Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen in recent months following his meteoric rise in the Premier League.
Now, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Dean Huijsen’s representatives are pushing for a move away from Bournemouth at the end of the season and have sounded out to several clubs around Europe including Tottenham over his potential availability.
The centre-back’s camp have already spoken to Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United from the Premier League circuit, while Real Madrid have also expressed in signing him.
Dean Huijsen has impressed in his very first season in the Premier League, adapting to its demands like a duck to water. The Dutchman has established a strong partnership with Illia Zabarnyi at the heart of Bournemouth’s defence, helping Andoni Iraola’s side push for a European spot.

Given the growing interest, the Cherries reportedly want to tie the youngster down to a new deal and increase his release clause—which currently stands over £49 million. The aforementioned report adds the Bournemouth bosses accept Huijsen’s current situation and realise that he is likely to leave this summer as things stand.
Huijsen has looked like a sublime young talent with his performances for Iraola’s Bournemouth side this season and it makes sense for Spurs to be vying for his signature. At 19, he fits the billing perfectly at Tottenham—a youngster with immense potential to grow and already some Premier League experience.

The Spain youth international is expected to be a hugely coveted commodity if he decides to leave the Vitality Stadium after just one campaign. However, Tottenham may find it difficult to lure Huijsen away to North London due to intense competition for his signature. To give themselves a chance, Big Ange has to win the Europa League and get an entry into the Champions League.
