‘Brilliant’ Tottenham star determined to make the most of N-17 opportunity

January signing Kevin Danso has settled at Tottenham Hotspur like a duck to water

Tottenham Hotspur were desperate for reinforcements heading into the January transfer window owing to their injury crisis. They managed to enjoy a strong winter window as compared to most of their Premier League rivals, signing three players.

One of the players to arrive at White Hart Lane was Kevin Danso. The centre-back joined Spurs on a loan deal from French club RC Lens with an obligation to buy at the end of the season. The Austrian continued his strong start to life in a Tottenham shirt against Ipswich Town last weekend, helping his team register a 4-1 success at Portman Road.

Kevin Danso has performed really well since making his debut for Ange Postecoglou’s side earlier this month. After the game, the Tottenham gaffer praised the centre-back for his robust performance against Ipswich and managing to keep Liam Delap quiet.

The way the ex-Southampton man has settled at Tottenham is quite impressive. His arrival from RC Lens has been crucial with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin all sidelined at the same time, while Ben Davies was rested against the Tractor Boys at Portman Road. While Danso’s rough-and-tough performances have made him an instant hit within the White Hart Lane faithful, there is another area in which he has been impressing his new teammates.

Reliable Football London journalist Alasdair Gold now expects Danso to become a part of Tottenham’s leadership group within the next 18 months following his growing influence at the club. He claims that while the recruit from Lens is proving to be a strong addition to Postecoglou’s defensive roster, it is also his personality which has been a big plus to the squad.

“He’s just a really bubbly, strong character Danso and he’s fitted in so well. Often, we talk about the talent of players and how well they play but maybe don’t give enough credit when the scouting setup also identifies the character and personality of a player,” Alasdair Gold said on his YouTube channel.

“Danso in that mould has been brilliant, as Postecoglou said, to fit into a team as a senior player despite making such a big step up – he just looks like a man determined to grab this opportunity with both hands.

“I think the young group of players are really benefitting from having him there but I also think people like Vicario are benefitting from having another leader and organiser there. I would not bet against Danso in the next 18 months or so becoming part of that leadership group.”

Kevin Danso is proving to be an astute signing for Tottenham

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Danso has done enough to suggest that he is the right fit for Big Ange’s high-defensive line. This is because not only the Austrian international has a good recovery pace but he is also composed on the ball and can pick out passes from deep. His ability to carry the ball and progress it forward is hugely helpful to the team.

For just £21 million, Danso is quickly proving to be a smart buy for the North Londoners. Indeed, we can also see him becoming a part of the leadership group under Big Ange.
