Resurgent Tottenham winter target eyeing summer switch to Barcelona

published :

Borussia Dortmund intensify efforts for Tottenham target Marcus Rashford.

There has been a dire need to bring in high-potential clinical forwards in the roster at White Hart Lane given how the North Londoners have suffered to convert a lot of their chances in the ongoing campaign, and as Daniel Levy dipped into the market to land a new high-potential attacker, he was looking to land Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford as he looked to take advantage of the England international’s situation at Old Trafford.

Going into the winter transfer window, there was a lot of tension at Carrington around Rashford following Ruben Amorim taking over the reins at Old Trafford, and after Marcus was left out of the squad, the forward admitted to Henry Winter about his readiness to call it quits with his boyhood club and move on from M16 in search of a new challenge. And he did so; he went on to join Aston Villa in January and has been thriving at Villa Park.

Rashy rolled back the years in Villa’s recent comeback win against Chelsea, where he provided assists for both goals of Marco Asensio’s goals and while his contributions have given Villa supporters a hint of hope, it seems that he is already looking beyond his temporary stay at the club.

In one of the interviews following his move to Villa Park, he made it clear that his time at Villa Park would be a short-term one, saying, “Obviously, it’s only short term that I’m here, but I want to make the most of my time here.”

Now, Rashford is looking at a possible move to Barcelona, per Givemesport:

“Marcus is confident that if he rediscovers his form at Villa Park and starts bagging goals, Barcelona will revive their interest, especially as a transfer price has been established. It’s a huge incentive for him, which is good news for Villa. Now he just needs to get playing and start scoring.”

Daniel Levy will be ready to pounce on Rashford deal if Barcelona falter

Rashford will have to continue putting in exemplary performances at Aston Villa if he is to earn a move to one of the European elites.

Although that being said, it is to be seen if Barcelona can afford his hefty wages given the financial problems at Camp Nou, and this is where Daniel Levy can come in and take advantage of the situation. If Barca are unable to offer him his current wages, Spurs can try to make one final push to attain his signatures when the summer window comes around.
