Tottenham eyeing summer deal for Arsenal target with £62 million release clause

Cunha

The Spurs have had a hard time throughout this entire season, currently sitting in the 12th position with 13 losses recorded in 26 match days. Two successive victories against Manchester United and Ipswich Town hint that the team may be returning to their form. Both injuries and inconsistency have haunted Spurs and Wolves, but now Spurs threaten some embarrassment by chasing after Wolves star Matheus Cunha aggressively.

Matheus Cunha is probably one of the most underrated forwards. After he left Atlético Madrid, he didn’t quite find his rhythm, giving way to him being great with Wolves, with almost 43 goal contributions in just 80 matches. It is all but clear that he has returned to form. Meanwhile, Tottenham have not even had a single recognized striker on their roster. The only centre-forward left is Mathys Tel, who is not even a fully-fledged member of the squad, coming to the rescue given injuries sidelining Richarlison and Dominic Solanke. Bringing on board such a flexible and experienced striker might have done wonders to advance Spurs’ attack.

Cunha’s assistance is being sought by many Prem rivals

Cunha has recently extended his contract with the Wolves, which contains a release clause of £62 million (€75 million) that interested clubs are expected to activate once the transfer window opens again. However, Spurs are up against stiff competition, with sources close to CaughtOffside stating that Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Aston Villa are all keen to secure the Brazilian’s signing this summer.

Arsenal are still keen to reinforce their offensive options and are apparently not planning to discount Cunha, despite all the greater interest at this stage going toward Benjamin Šeško. Aston Villa’s chase for the striker has intensified after Durán’s exit in January.

Fichajes reports that three clubs from the Premier League have already come in contact with Cunha about a possible transfer. Tottenham is definitely looking for a good-quality forward to assist Son Heung-min in attack as they have seen him as one of their biggest targets.

Cunha is capable of playing in all the positions in the front three and not only brings goals but also creativity into Spurs’ offensive formation. Cunha has impressed in the Premier League with Wolves, and he’s keen to play at a more elevated level. Moving to a side like this one will be an exciting step in his career.

With Cunha’s arrival, Tottenham could strengthen their squad with added versatility and build towards a more competitive campaign next season. However, securing at least a top-10 finish this season remains crucial to laying the groundwork for future success.
