Tottenham are planning to table an offer for Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi when transfer window reopens
Tottenham Hotspur recovered well in the January transfer window after a slow start and made a couple of signings during the final days. After signing young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, they completed loan deals for Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel before the winter window slammed shut.
Spurs have been linked with plenty of players in recent months. One of them is Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi. The Lilywhites tried signing the Italian during the past transfer window but a deal didn’t come to fruition. This was perhaps due to a combination of a lack of immediate requirement for reinforcements in the middle of the park and the club’s focus on strengthening the defence and attack.
Now, with the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma entering the final year of their contracts, the Lilywhites would look to strengthen the midfield unit in the summer. According to a report from Inter Live, Tottenham have rekindled their interest in Davide Frattesi. They are intensifying their efforts once again in getting the player’s signature, as Ange Postecoglou eyes fresh faces in his squad.

Frattesi joined Inter Milan on an initial loan from Sassuolo which became permanent last summer after the club forked out just over €31 million. While the Italian midfielder has put him in some impressive performances, he has failed to establish himself as a regular starter.
He remains a back-up player under Simone Inzaghi, mustering only 812 minutes across 20 Serie A games this season. The Rome-born talent has just made five starts in Serie A, contributing four goals and two assists thus far. Due to a lack of starts and regular game time, Frattesi wanted to leave the Nerazzurri in the January transfer window but it did not happen.
Come summer, there will be opportunities for the midfielder to leave Inter. The aforementioned report claims that Tottenham are planning to come up with an offer, with €30m expected to be enough for the Italian champions to consider selling Frattesi. The final decision of picking his next destination will depend on the midfielder himself, though, as he remains committed to finishing the season strongly with Inzaghi’s side.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Frattesi is also capable of operating in deeper areas. However, his assets lie in crashing the box and scoring goals as well as making incisive passes in the final third. This would make him a good fit at Tottenham, where he’d cover and compete with James Maddison. In terms of productivity, the Italian would be an upgrade on Bissouma.
