Tottenham Hotspur academy kid Mikey Moore was not part of the squad vs Manchester City on Wednesday night
Tottenham Hotspur’s injury situation is slowly getting better. Ange Postecoglou welcomed five players back from injury in the 1-0 win over Manchester United last month.
Guglielmo Vicario, Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Destiny Udogie all returned from their respective injury problems and were a part of the squad that beat Man United. In midweek, Ange Postecoglou handed Wilson Odobert a start in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.
The defeat to Man City snapped Spurs’ three-game winning run in the Premier League. Postecoglou had a strong squad at his disposal, yet his boys were not at their best and lost the game. To everyone’s surprise, Mikey Moore was not a part of the squad on Wednesday evening.

Mikey Moore has been one of several young players to benefit from Spurs’ injury crisis this season. While he spent a significant amount of time on the sidelines due to a bad virus, the teenager has also been handed plenty of chances to show his potential and has seen himself become a regular part of the first team. He has made 16 appearances across all competitions thus far in what has been his breakout season at N17.
And it looks like the Spurs academy product has suffered a fresh setback after a recent development. Reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham has speculated that Moore was left out of the squad against Man City because of an injury setback.
“I don’t think Moore will be feeling any type of way about being left out,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“He might have suffered a small knock because you’ve got to remember before the game against City, Moore had started four out of five.
“Therefore, it would be unusual if he was suddenly left out of the squad, and he hadn’t suffered an injury of some sort. As a result, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has suffered a small knock.
“However, I expect to see him return to the squad against AZ Alkmaar, because Timo Werner is of course now ineligible in the UEFA Europa League.”

It was indeed perplexing to see Moore not a part of the squad, unless—as Wenham mentions—he suffered a slight knock that saw Big Ange pick Timo Werner against Man City. As Tottenham are starting to get all of their injured players back, the 17-year-old’s game time could reduce considerably. The young winger may have to bide a little bit of time watching from the bench or sidelines, as Big Ange looks to get some sort of consistency in performance levels and results.

The Lilywhites’ main focus now is winning the Europa League, and with Werner not part of the revised squad, Moore will be hoping to make the squad against AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of the round of 16 next Wednesday. Fans will be waiting to know whether he actually suffered a minor injury setback or was left out of the squad against City.
