Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Crystal Palace starlet Adam Wharton during the summer transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur find themselves reeling in the bottom half of the Premier League, sitting 13th in the table, 14 points off the top four.
One of the primary reasons for their underwhelming form this season has been the constant injury woes that the Lilywhites have faced. As a result, Ange Postecoglou’s position at the club remains under heavy scrutiny. Regardless of the Australian’s fate, the North London club need to improve their squad’s quality and depth if they wish to avoid a repeat of the ongoing campaign.
A couple of central midfielders will enter the final year of their contracts in June, which means the Hotspur Way chiefs must make decisions on their futures during the off-season. One of those midfielders is Yves Bissouma, who has failed to cement a regular spot in Ange Postecoglou’s XI and has been reportedly placed on the chopping block. And it looks as though the club already have a replacement in mind for Bissouma.
Tottenham have reportedly joined Aston Villa and Newcastle United in the transfer race for highly-rated Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

Adam Wharton joined Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024 and was excellent during the second half of last season, quickly becoming a mainstay under Oliver Glasner. He has not managed to have a similar impact this season, though, due to a groin injury that kept him on the sidelines for more than two months.
Yet, the 21-year-old has garnered much attention from Premier League elite ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. It would appear that Tottenham are the latest club to become enamoured by the English talent.
However, heading into the January transfer window, Crystal Palace had slapped a £60million price tag on Adam Wharton, so signing him this summer could prove to be a difficult task for Spurs. This is the view of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham. He thinks the Lilywhites would struggle to meet Palace’s £60m demands for a young talent who they could have once signed for peanuts.
“I think the club might be reluctant to pay that much money for Wharton,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“You’ve got to remember that Tottenham extensively scouted Wharton before he joined Palace, and they had the opportunity to sign him for about £3million.
“Therefore, to now hand Palace £60m I imagine will be quite difficult to do. Would Wharton improve us? Absolutely. He would be a phenomenal upgrade on Bissouma, and I would love to sign him. However, it isn’t easy getting players out of Palace.
“A lot of these clubs don’t need our money, and I think Tottenham could find it difficult to stomach paying £60m for a player they could have signed for £3m.”

Wharton is a sublime talent and would undoubtedly be an upgrade on Bissouma. An exciting young player with great composure on the ball, reading of the game and spatial awareness, the one-cap England international would surely improve Big Ange’s first XI.
While Wenham has doubts over the club splashing in the region of £60m for him, Daniel Levy must show ambition and loosen his purse strings if we are to seriously compete for Champions League spots and major honours next season. And signing Wharton could be a game-changer—for now and in the long term. The Palace starlet would represent a smart addition that fits the mould of signings our club have made in recent windows—young and dynamic talents with bags of potential.
