Tottenham planning to revive interest in €60 million-rated Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to revive their interest in Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo during the summer transfer window

With the winter window out of the way, Tottenham Hotspur have already started laying bricks for the upcoming summer transfer window and they have been looking at reinforcing the offensive side of things.

Spurs bolstered their squad during the January transfer window with the signings of Antonin Kinsky, Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso. They are all proving to be quality, long-term additions to Ange Postecoglou’s squad. However, after an underwhelming season that currently sees the Lilywhites in the second half of the table, massive changes are expected to happen in the summer.

The North Londoners were linked with a move for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo in the past window, but a deal didn’t come to fruition as the Cherries were reluctant to lose one of their valuable assets midway through the season. That hasn’t discouraged Tottenham and they will look to revive their interest in the player.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham have set their sights on Antoine Semenyo as a ‘real option’ to strengthen the attacking ranks ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Semenyo is playing some excellent football with Bournemouth this season; to put that into numbers, he has provided 14 goal contributions in 29 games across all competitions. He has developed into one of the most exciting players in the Premier League in the last 15 to 18 months, terrorizing defences with his speed, tenacity, flair, unpredictability and physicality.

A left-winger by trade, the Ghana international can also operate off the right and through the middle as a No.9—as he has done since last season under Andoni Iraola. The 25-year-old is someone who likes to drop back, carry the ball, beat his marker and create space for himself and his teammates. He could fit into Postecoglou’s high-pressing, attacking system like a glove, thereby enhancing the overall squad.

The aforementioned report adds Bournemouth are aware of the growing interest in Semenyo and have set a €60 million starting price tag on him. Should he perform consistently until the end of the season, expect that price to soar.

For Tottenham, Semenyo will not only add cutting edge upfront but also bring in the pressing ability and take up the spaces of Timo Werner and Richarlison in the squad, with both of them linked with exits at the end of the season. Moreover, with Son Heung-min on the wrong side of 30, he can be his potential replacement and the star figure at White Hart Lane in the long term.

That being said, it will be up to the Hotspur Way chiefs to decide whether to meet Bournemouth’s hefty €60 million price tag for the African attacker or not. If they are willing to splash the cash, Semenyo could become a terrific acquisition for Tottenham.
