Dominic Solanke could be available for Tottenham’s Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday evening
After a full week of rest, Tottenham Hotspur will return to action against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Wednesday evening.
Spurs’ three-game winning run in the Premier League was snapped last week at the hands of Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Erling Haaland’s first-half strike proving to be the difference. Over the last few games, Ange Postecoglou has welcomed back some key players from injury.
Despite a few players returning, Spurs still have players sidelined and one of them is Dominic Solanke. The England international has been out since January after hurting his knee in training in the lead up to the Everton game at Goodison Park. The centre-forward scored 11 goals and provided six assists in all competitions before he got injured.
Recently, a report from The Standard revealed that Dominic Solanke has returned to training and has an outside chance of featuring in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16 against AZ Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion on Wednesday evening.

The 27-year-old recently confirmed his return with a series of images on his official Instagram account. A few of those pictures featured him training at Hotspur Way, alongside the caption “tick tock”. Thus, plenty of supporters must be optimistic about Solanke returning to the squad for the AZ Alkmaar clash in the Netherlands later this week.
Of all of the current injured players, Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham is most excited for Solanke’s comeback.
“I would love to see Solanke play against AZ Alkmaar,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Of all of the players currently ruled out for Tottenham, he is the one who I want back the most. I just think he provides a different dynamic up front.
“With Solanke in the team, we might see the best versions of Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, as they will be able to play off a big target man. I think we’ve established that Tel’s position is going to be out wide. I don’t think he has the physical attributes to play up front in the Premier League.
“Therefore, having somebody of Solanke’s ability back in the side, with his relentless pressing and natural finishing ability, will be huge.”

Solanke’s availability against AZ Alkmaar will be a seismic boost for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham. The Europa League clashes with AZ Alkmaar are undoubtedly Spurs’ most important games of the season, with barely anything left to play in the Premier League.
Winning the Europa League will not only end the club’s long trophy drought but also provide Big Ange’s side with a direct entry into the Champions League next season. So, having Solanke will be incredible, providing the Lilywhites with a much-needed presence up top that has been missing in recent weeks.
