Tottenham planning to offload Yves Bissouma during the summer transfer window amid Crystal Palace interest

Tottenham Hotspur are considering listening to offers for one of the senior stars in the squad amidst his struggle for consistency this season.

Having witnessed an unprecedented injury situation this season, Ange Postecoglou would have expected many of his senior players to pull up their sleeves and help the team navigate through the crisis. One of those who had an opportunity to cement his place in the XI was Yves Bissouma.

Yves Bissouma has failed to live up to his potential at White Hart Lane since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion back in the summer of 2022. He has not been consistent under Ange Postecoglou, and that combined with Lucas Bergvall’s emergence, the central midfielder continues to be in and out of the first XI.

As the Mali international enters the final year of his contract, the Hotspur Way bosses are exploring the possibility of cashing him in when the transfer window reopens. A host of clubs are emerging as potential destinations for the 28-year-old. Spurs’ London rivals, Crystal Palace are reportedly among the clubs keen on signing Yves Bissouma in the summer.

Tottenham want to cash in on Yves Bissouma this summer

And Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King thinks an offer of £15m would be enough to persuade the club to sell Bissouma.

“I’ve been expecting one of Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr to leave,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.

“If clubs are interested, then I think it is time to sell. I think the time has come, he’s been a decent player for the club, but maybe he needs a new challenge elsewhere.

“I’d imagine that a bid of £15m would be accepted by Tottenham. Bissouma isn’t young, he’s got one year left on his contract. Therefore, if Tottenham want any money for him, a deal has got to be done in the summer.

“A lot of these players that have been brought in are very questionable for me, which points to the recruitment in North London.”

Indeed, it is time for the club to part ways with Bissouma. We need to accept that the transfer has not worked out as everyone thought when Tottenham signed the African star from Brighton. The 28-year-old has struggled in Postecoglou’s high-pressing, intense system, lacking the technical attributes required to operate as a defensive midfielder.

As he is very unlikely to be offered a new contract, Spurs must not hesitate to accept an offer within £15m to £20m. With a year left on his contract, that should be a decent fee to get for someone with Premier League experience. By offloading Bissouma, the club chiefs must bring in ceiling-raisers in their midfield.

Tottenham are understood to be eyeing a move for Real Betis star Johnny Cardoso as a potential replacement for Bissouma.
