Tottenham and Arsenal offered opportunity to sign prolific Serie A attacker

Tottenham have been approached by the agents of Ademola Lookman

Atalanta star Ademola Lookman’s representatives have contacted Tottenham Hotspur over a possible summer move

One area of Tottenham Hotspur’s squad that demands upgrading in the summer transfer window is their attack.

Ange Postecoglou may not agree, though, as his side have scored 53 goals in the Premier League thus far—joint-second highest in the division this season. However, on a bigger picture, Spurs have a few underperforming forwards who need to be offloaded and replaced with new players before the 2025/26 campaign commences.

Richarlison just cannot be relied upon due to his poor fitness record, while Timo Werner’s loan term will expire at the end of the season. Also, Son Heung-min is 32 and has shown considerable signs of ageing. And following an underwhelming season that currently sees the North Londoners in the bottom half of the table, massive changes are expected to happen in the summer.

Tottenham keen on signing highly-rated Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman

According to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham and Arsenal have both been approached by the agents of Atalanta star Ademola Lookman.

Ademola Lookman has established himself as one of the best forwards since arriving at Atalanta from RB Leipzig a couple of years ago. The Nigerian international netted an impressive 17 goals in 45 games across all competitions last season, leading from the front in La Dea’s Europa League triumph over Bayer Leverkusen with a famous hat-trick. The 27-year-old, who was a contender to win the Ballon d’Or, has performed well during the 2024/25 campaign too, registering 17 goals and seven assists in 30 games across all competitions to date.

However, Lookman’s future has been at the centre of speculation since his manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, labelled him “one of the worst penalty takers” after he missed a crucial spot kick in a defeat to Club Brugge in the Champions League last month. The African ace hit back at Gasperini in a statement on social media, in which he deemed his coach’s remarks as ‘deeply disrespectful.’

As a result, the 27-year-old’s future in Bergamo has become uncertain, even though Gasperini praised him in the aftermath of a frustrating 0-0 draw with Venezia in Serie A last week.

Son Heung-min’s powers are on the wane and could be offloaded at the end of the season

The aforementioned report adds Atalanta are now ready to let Lookman leave at the end of the season amid interest from several European clubs including Tottenham. The player has been seriously contemplating moving back to England, where he grew up and came through Charlton Athletic’s academy.

For Spurs, Postecoglou requires a more dynamic outlet from the left flank following the dip in Son’s form. Lookman has the ideal profile to not only potentially replace Son but also provide Tottenham with more directness, incisiveness, pace and unpredictability in their attack. The former Everton and Fulham man would also be an instant upgrade on Werner, whose loan deal is very unlikely to be made permanent.

However, with Arsenal and several other clubs in the race, the Lilywhites will require to pull a rabbit out of the hat to land Lookman in the summer. If they can do that, it would represent a coup of sorts for Daniel Levy and Spurs.
