Tottenham incresingly confident of landing relegation threatened star in the summer

Tottenham confident they are leading the race for Southampton’s prodigious talent Tyler Dibling

Tottenham Hotspur bolstered their squad during the January transfer window with three fresh faces. Antonin Kinsky, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel arrived at N17 to provide Ange Postecoglou with much-needed help after his side has been severely decimated by injuries this season.

Having fortified the defensive and offensive units in the previous window, there is real determination within the club chiefs to also bolster their options in the middle of the park after finding themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League and out of the domestic cup competitions.

Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over the recent months. The Lilywhites were interested in signing the prodigious English talent during the winter transfer window but Southampton were reluctant to let him leave amid their fight against relegation.

The 19-year-old’s displays at the St Mary’s Stadium have won him many admirers across the Premier League. However, according to talkSPORT chief correspondent Alex Crook’s Transfer Notebook, Tottenham feel they are leading the race for Tyler Dibling ahead of a potential move in the off-season.

The Exeter-born attacker is expected to leave the Saints once their relegation from the Premier League is confirmed, with Ivan Juric’s side having only picked up nine points so far this season. Dibling is out of contract in the summer of 2026, and having been ‘unhappy’ with the new deal that he has been offered, Southampton will be raring to get a substantial fee for the teenager’s services when he departs.

The aforementioned report adds Newcastle United and Aston Villa have made initial enquiries about luring Dibling away from the south coast, although Spurs believe that the Southampton man will choose them as his next destination.

As he is entering the final year of his contract, Tottenham honcho Daniel Levy feels Southampton will not be in a position to ask in excess of £50m for their blossoming talent. The Saints are already being doomed to get relegated, which would further make it difficult for them to ask for an exorbitant fee for the England under-21 international.

Dibling has demonstrated that he can be unplayable on his day, with defences struggling to keep him silent, and he has also demonstrated an eye for goal this season, having found the back of the net a couple of times in the top flight. The teenage sensation’s dribbling, burst of acceleration, unpredictability, versatility and goalscoring instinct could help revitalise the North Londoners’ attack, which has underperformed of late.

While it is great for the club to feel internally that Dibling would prefer to join Ange Postecoglou’s forces over others, it would realistically not be easy for the Hotspur Way chiefs to thrash out a deal for the Southampton midfielder considering the rising interest in him from the Premier League and across Europe.
